Homers Boîte à Beignes, the donut shop that’s as bright and playful as its sprinkles. Homers serves up fresh donuts, milkshakes, and coffee made to put a smile on your face. We caught up with Owner Theodoros Axiotis to chat about his passion for pastry, how he brought donuts to the west side of Montreal, and the sweet success behind his growing business.
What is your business called, and what does it do?
Homers Boîte à Beignes – We sell donuts.
What made you want to do this work?
I’ve been passionate about operating restaurants and pastry shops for the past 27 years. We saw an opportunity to donuts to the west side of Montreal and decided to go for it.
What problem did you want to solve with the business?
The biggest challenge was finding good staff, training them, developing their skills, and retaining them. Fortunately, we’ve built a great team that believes in and supports our vision.
Who are your clientele/demographics?
Our customers come from all walks of life – all ages, genders, ethnicities, and religions.
How does your business make money?
We generate revenue by selling donuts, milkshakes, and coffee.
How does it work?
Our day starts early – the team begins at 2 a.m. to prepare fresh donuts every day. We’re open Monday to Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Operations are divided into five departments: dough preparation, donut decoration, frying/cooking, service, and cleaning.
