What is your business called, and what does it do?

Tannya Skye Photography. I provide photographic services to real estate agents to help them sell houses.

What made you want to do this work?

I studied for three years at Dawson College and got my DEC in professional photography. Out of all the types of photography we looked at, I had an eye for architectural shots, and it’s the type of photography that interested me the most.

What problem did you want to solve with the business?

Helping real estate agents market the houses they are trying to sell. As well as helping property owners best show off the features of their properties.

Who are your clientele/demographics?

Real estate agents, property owners, interior designers, other contractors.

How does your business make money? How does it work?

I get hired to take photographs of the inside and outside of properties, whether that be personal or commercial. In some cases, it can be used for interior designers or home stagers to put in their portfolio, as well as other contractors (countertops, cabinets, etc.), to show other clients their work.

Where in the city can we find your profession?

I am located on the south shore of Montreal. However, I service the island of Montreal, the North Shore, the South Shore, etc. Wherever I am needed, I try to make myself available. However, I always keep in mind how there could be travel costs.

What is the best question a prospective customer could ask a member of your profession when comparing services? Give the answer as well.

What services do you offer?

My business in particular offers photographs, measurements of rooms, and floor plans. In the future, I do hope to be able to offer drone and 360° virtual tours.

What is the best part about what you do? What is the worst part?

The best part is the different people I get to meet, as well as the insane houses I get to see.

The worst is the long hours, especially in the car. My job doesn’t end once the house is shot; I have to go home to edit them, sometimes multiple shoots in a day, and get them sent. (Depending on how many contracts I have in my editing queue, this can even take a few days to be done)

What is your favourite joke about your own profession?

Sometimes houses and properties can be so big we definitely get our steps in and we become gymnasts trying to hide from reflections.

Where can we follow you?
