Wafa Khanji is a Montréal-based content creator whose channel offers an intimate and inspiring look at city life, food, and hidden gems across Montreal. What began as a casual way for him to document his travels has evolved into a platform that encourages locals and visitors alike to explore everything the city has to offer. Since launching his content in early 2024, Wafa has built a community around authenticity, curiosity, and joy—sharing everything from cozy cafés to cultural moments, often with the help of his sisters or close friends behind the scenes
What is your channel called and what is it about?
My channel is just under my name, Wafa Khanji. It used to be “wafasblogs” because I wanted to share my travels with friends and followers, but over time, I shifted my angle toward Montreal content & lifestyle. Now it’s all about sharing my experiences in the city and encouraging people to explore all that Montreal has to offer 🙂
When did you start it? What motivated you at the beginning?
I started creating content in March 2024 just for fun, posting little travel moments here and there. I’ve always loved sharing my experiences, especially when it comes to travel. It didn’t even feel like “creating content” at the time; it was just something I naturally loved doing. I shifted to Montreal-focused content in June 2024 after realizing travel content isn’t exactly sustainable to keep up forever unless someone wants to fund my adventures lol.
Who were you inspired by? Any influences?
I remember stumbling on a video of Rhya exploring a spot downtown (I think it was La Cave à Manger), and I loved her style so much. She had this energy I really connected with, and it inspired me to go for it. I also love creators like @chandni_in_mtl and @ak.wassim. Their presence, their content style, the vibes… all of it made me want to be part of that world!
How would you describe your audience?
Right now, my audience is mostly local Montrealers. But back when I was posting travel content, things went crazy viral from a post about Algeria. I had extended family there, and the videos I made gained a huge following. Algerians are so supportive. They were just so proud that someone from abroad made content for them. It meant a lot. That audience has shifted now, but it was such a cool chapter.
What is your creative process? Do you have people who work with you?
It’s usually just me, solo missions! But nowadays, especially with food or activity content, having someone with me really helps. My sisters or a close friend will usually tag along and help out. Most of the time, it’s just about finding inspiration, seeing what others are creating, and saying, “Alright, let’s try something new this week.”
How do you monetize your content? Do you also have another job?
I recently started charging for collaborations especially because I live far from downtown and it’s not always easy (or free!) to create content. But I only accept deals if I genuinely believe in what I’m promoting. I won’t post about food or experiences I wouldn’t personally enjoy or recommend. This is part-time for me, though since I also work full-time in the sales industry.
What is your favourite piece of content you have created?
I love one of my first videos from Switzerland. It was supposed to be this epic mountaintop view, but we ended up going on a super foggy rainy day and couldn’t see a thing. But I still loved filming it because it was real. Travel doesn’t always go as planned, and I wanted to show that too.
What is the best part about what you do? What is the worst part?
The best part is honestly just discovering new things, trying new food, exploring the city, all while sharing the experience with people who genuinely care. The worst part? THE COMMUTE. I really need to move downtown already because at this point… I basically live there.
What are your future plans for your channel?
I’d love to branch back out into travel content because, honestly, travel is my Roman Empire. I’m always thinking about the next adventure, the next destination, the next moment to explore. I have this constant itch to experience new places, and I’d love to one day shift my channel into full-on lifestyle and travel content. That’s definitely the long-term goal 🙂

PAY IT FORWARD: Who is another Canadian content creator that you love?
I absolutely adore Ashley, also known as @mtlmarz. She’s seriously one of the sweetest souls I’ve met here in Montreal. Her vibe is so chill and genuine. I love everything she puts out!
