Based in Montreal and Stockholm, Voidchaser is a progressive metal band formed in 2023 that quickly established itself as a project to watch on both local and international scenes. What began as a desire to bring original compositions to life soon developed into a fully realized band, first gaining experience through performances in Montreal’s bars and open mics. The release of the debut single Valkyrie introduced listeners to the foundations of Voidchaser’s sound and marked the beginning of a rapidly evolving trajectory.
The band’s first major milestone came in early 2024 with the release of the Odyssey EP, featuring the single Tyrant. Launched with a near sold-out hometown show, the EP crystallized the group’s ambitions and set the tone for what would follow. Around the same period, Voidchaser adopted a long-distance working model between Canada and Sweden, a shift that proved to be a catalyst rather than a limitation, significantly increasing both productivity and creative cohesion.
By mid-2024, Voidchaser took to the road for the Ashes of the Void Tour, performing four shows in four days across Quebec and Ontario alongside co-headliner Ashbreather. Parallel to this touring cycle, the band continued refining its catalogue with a remixed version of Tyrant, the standalone single Star-Crossed Lovers, and a complete reissue of Valkyrie, originally released in 2023.
September 2024 marked a defining moment with the release of Solace, a 30-minute conceptual album divided into six interconnected parts. The record explores themes of strength, vulnerability and identity through a wide emotional spectrum, ranging from the aggressive and technically driven Solace Part II: Only Human, featuring Ashbreather, to the stripped-down acoustic atmosphere of Solace Part IV: Alien. The album surpassed 200,000 streams on Spotify within its first three months and received strong critical recognition. The Progspace praised it as “top-notch progressive metal genre connoisseurs should be lapping this up readily,” while Riffage described Voidchaser as “rising stars of international progressive metal.” Solace also charted among the top metal releases on Apple Music and iTunes in Canada, Sweden, Belgium, Switzerland, Colombia, Peru and several other countries.
To support the album, Voidchaser headlined the Terra Corp Presents: The Only Human Tour in September 2024, a self-produced seven-show run over eight days across Quebec. Sharing the stage with bands such as The Anchoret, Universe Effects and Last Dance Among Wolves, the tour marked several important milestones for the band, including their first sold-out show and near sell-outs across their merchandise stock, further solidifying their growing presence within the local metal community.
This momentum carried into 2025 with the release of the Trust EP, featuring guest appearances from Jim Grey of Caligula’s Horse, members of The Anchoret and Universe Effects, and contributions from over fifteen collaborators worldwide. The EP paved the way for Voidchaser’s first international tour, a twelve-date run across Canada, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark and Sweden, including performances at ProgPower Europe’s 25th Anniversary in the Netherlands and the inaugural ProgStorm Festival in Montreal.
In 2026, Voidchaser announced Interstellar I, their second full-length album. Set within a lore-driven deep-space narrative, the record explores themes of technological overreach, corruption, love and survival. Musically, it balances dense, layered arrangements with high-energy choruses and strong melodic hooks, drawing from classic heavy influences such as Deep Purple and Black Sabbath alongside modern progressive metal foundations. With Interstellar I, Voidchaser aims to deliver its most ambitious and fully realized work to date, further establishing itself as a serious new act within contemporary progressive metal.

Favourite musician growing up:
Rush, Kiss, Megadeth, Black Sabbath, Dream Theater to name a few. I also had a hair metal phase!
Favourite musician now:
Devin Townsend, Haken
Guilty pleasure song:
Escape from the City by Ted Poley and Tony Harnell
Live show ritual:
Not so much a live show ritual, but at the beginning of every tour, we blast Escape from the City in the car to mark the start of the tour!
Favourite local musician:
Ashbreather is one of the best underground bands in Montreal! And I’m not just saying that because we stole their drummer!
EP or LP?
Love an LP. We’re the type of people to listen to full albums, and I think an LP gives the artist an opportunity to provide additional context to each song
Early bird or night owl?
Both, we don’t really sleep lol, we all have pets that require our attention in the morning, and all have late nights working on some stuff together.
Road or studio?
Both are fun, but we love the road. We love meeting people and playing shows!

Rapid Fire Local Questions:
What is your favourite local restaurant?
Might not count as a restaurant, but Bernie Beigne!
What is your favourite street in your city and why?
I think Mont Royal Street is super nice, lots of cool stuff during the summer. The corner between Mont Royal and Saint Laurent is especially cool. Love the view of the mountain in the distance, and that whole area is super cool.
What is your favourite park in your city and why?
There are a lot of cool ones! Parc La Fontaine and Parc Sir-Wilfrid-Laurier are honourable mentions since I used to go there with my dog a lot. But Parc Jarry has a very special spot for me since I once played a gig there in front of a crowd of roughly 1000 people!
What is your favourite music venue in your city?
I think Piranha Bar will always be a favourite just cause it was one of the first venues to book us, and I think we all passed through it in our respective careers. Turbo Haus is definitely up there as well and deserves the honourable mention. Shout out to Sergio Da Silva!
What is your favourite music store in your city?
Nantel Musique! It’s actually where the riff for an upcoming track called Hyperconverter was conceived!
