Five Minutes With: Montréal Musician Serge-André Jones

Trained at Université Laval (Francis Dubé) and Université de Montreal (Paul Stewart), Serge-André Jones is, first of all, a virtuoso pianist, sensitive and imaginative and, secondly, a colourful and charismatic stage persona. His music, grounded in his solid classical piano training, also draws its inspiration from popular music, minimalism, jazz, and, in the style of film music, evokes to his listeners images and a sense of journey.

His ambition as a stage performer has brought him to create different solo shows that combine musical performance, theatre, philosophy and humour. His work is influenced first by his heightened sensitivity, the freedom of his imagination and also by the great mastery he has of his instrument.

Originally from Québec City, Canada, it is now life in the countryside that brings Serge-André Jones the calm and inspiration for his work. His new opus, “De l’autre côté,” is a reflective and captivating work where introspection and virtuosity meet. The outcome of the album is designed to reach the general public as well as trained musicians. Its stage direction offers philosophical reflections, personal stories from the composer’s life, all wrapped in a humorous and friendly atmosphere.
