How do you describe the emotion of raw energy without breaking everything in the process? I feel like a bio of Flo would be the perfect place to start. A classic biography could never capture the true essence of his art.
An artist since forever, a professional only by societal obligation, Florent Duchesne gives us a glimpse of our own raw inner madness, letting us understand that an unexpected beauty can rise from it. Clearly influenced by skate culture and the underground tech scene, spaces where everyone is free to be themselves without fearing, not the judgment of others, but the judgment of their own ego.
His technical training gave him the tools needed to carry his message. Able to present concrete, so present in our lives, in a completely new way, he pushes the contrasts at the core of his work. In just one year, hearts were won: multiple exhibitions, interviews, live shows. A beginning that speaks loudly about Florent’s endless drive. Come talk with him, and you’ll see it for yourself.
I hope one day he manages to share his message as far as it can possibly go. And since he’s reaching out to you, that’s already an accomplishment.

Which ’hood are you in?
I live in Longueuil, but I’m (almost) always in Montreal. It’s where I draw most of my inspiration; the local art and culture scene really feeds my practice. The rave energy, live music, and skate culture of the city shape a big part of my work.
What do you do?
I sculpt cement. Using this raw material and pushing it to its most prestigious form, with organic, soft, almost fragile details, I try to create the strongest contrast possible. My life is a constant contradiction, and my work reflects that. I embrace failure and brutality as part of my process, letting the material express its own contradictions as it transforms.
What are you currently working on?
I’m currently in the middle of two art residencies, one in Boucherville and another in Quebec City. This November, I presented my first solo show, Completely Lost, in Old Montreal, and I’m now preparing for an exhibition in Buffalo opening on January 1st, 2026. I’m focused on pushing the contrast in my work even further, exploring new shapes and directions that go beyond anything I’ve done so far.
Where can we find your work?
You can see more of my work online on my website and on my social platforms (Instagram and Facebook).
You can also see my work in person at Marcel Morin Gallery in Old Montreal, where I’m represented.
Four of my pieces will be in Buffalo from January to March 2026 at Zach Frank and Co Art Gallery.
