Claudine Napoleon

How would you describe your comedy style?

A writer and rising stand-up comedian with a style that she describes as “storytelling with punchlines”—whatever that means.

Since her debut, Claudine has quickly made a name for herself on the Montreal comedy scene, performing in English and French alongside both emerging and established comedians. She did the Just for Laughs festival in both French and English in 2025. She was part of Sugar Sammy’s 2025 Gala that showcased Top Talent to watch out for in Montreal. She is part of the show called Queen of Comedy (produced by mtlcomedy), which performs a few times a year in Montreal. She is a regular performer at Comedy Nest, Bordel Comedie Club. She has opened for numerous comedians since she started in 2024. Undoubtedly a rising force to be reckoned with, Claudine is one to watch on the comedy landscape.

Who are some of your influences?

The other local comedians in my own town, and the ones I got to meet along the way in other places across Canada.

Who was your favourite comedian growing up?

I never had a favourite comedian growing up. But I remember laughing at Eddie Murphy and Bernie Mack’s special, even when my English was not the best, I still got the jokes.

Who is your favourite comedian now?

I’m learning about comedy more and more, so I am listening to some old stuff more. I do not have a specific favourite, but I do find myself liking or being more attracted to a type of stand up verse a specific comedian. I really enjoy the local ones from Montreal scenes both in French and in English; perhaps it’s because I get the privilege to share stage with some great ones and see them live. Every time I perform.

What is your pre-show ritual?

Honestly, deep breathing and a little gratitude prayer.

What is your favourite place you have performed? Why?

The Just for Laughs Festival! For me, it was magical. I got to perform in English and in French for one year and some months into starting stand-up comedy, which was a blessing.

What is your favourite bit you have written and why were you proud of it?

I have been doing comedy for going on a year. I still have a lot to learn and am constantly changing my sets. But my favourite one is my first one. Because I never wrote comedy before, and I was in AH about how easy it flowed to me and how it got people laughing. My first bit is my favourite one because that the one that got me saying ‘I want to do that more.”

What is your favourite medium for listening or finding new comics/comedians?

When performing. I think you meet the most talented people and learn the most by going where there is comedy and listening, observing not only the comedian but how and when the crowd react, taking the feedback and performing.

Tell us a joke about your city.

Montreal street is just like my summer body. Always under construction, and the deadline set for the completion always gets pushed back to next year:)

Do you have anything to promote right now?

Yes, I have a podcast with two other comedians, Reginald St-Eloy and UnclePhil. We post a new episode every Wednesday. And we have two shows scheduled for the end of June and the beginning of October 2026 at Saint-Catherine Theatre.

Where can we follow you?

You can find me on all platforms as @claudine_napoleon, including Instagram, TikTok, and Threads.

I also release episodes of my hilarious podcast “SezziPodcast” on my YouTube channel and Instagram account @sezzipodcast.

PAY IT FORWARD: Who is another local comic/comedian we should know about?

The list is so long. Montreal have so many talented people, I wouldn’t have enough space to write about all of them. So I will name a few that help me in many ways in the French comedy world: Eddy King, Jean-Michel Eli, Unclephilhumour, and Reginald St. Eloy. All the girls from the Queen of Comedy (produced by MTL comedy) and so much more.
