What is your business called and what does it do?
Our business, Ierba, offers tisanes and skincare products made with ingredients sourced from locally grown, wild-harvested, or organically outsourced plants. Our mission is to reconnect you with nature and your roots, helping you discover well-being through the power of plants.
What made you want to do this work?
It started with my interest in Artemisia annua and its potential to help with my husband’s digestive issues. During the pandemic, I became fascinated by plants, their historical medicinal uses, and their support for a healthy lifestyle. Walks in the forest deepened my curiosity, leading me to study herbalism and create my own blends.
What problem did you want to solve with the business?
I want to help people recognize their power over their health by making small changes, like drinking a daily cup of tea. I also hope to inspire others to view the earth not just as a challenge but as a source of healing and care through plants.
Who are your clientele/demographics?
Primarily women aged 25-60, focused on self-care.
How does your business make money? How does it work?
We have an online boutique, sell to grocery stores and boutiques, and participate in markets.
Where in the city can we find your profession?
Herbalists are often found at local farmers’ markets, organic grocery stores, herbal apothecaries, or wellness centres.
What is the best question a prospective customer could ask a member of your profession when comparing services?
Q: Are your plants organic?
A: Our plants go beyond organic. While the organic label is common, it doesn’t always mean what people think. Even organic pesticides can have health concerns. We grow plants without pesticides or fungicides and prioritize soil health for the highest quality.
What is the best part about what you do? What is the worst part?
The best part is spending time in nature, growing plants, and creating botanical blends. Hearing client feedback on how our products have helped them is incredibly rewarding.
The worst part is managing the overwhelming number of behind-the-scenes tasks.
What is your favourite joke about your own profession?
Some might call me a master potion maker. 😉
Where can we follow you?
Instagram, Facebook, and our website.
