“A Day in the Life” with Montréal Visual Artist Susan Porter

Susan Porter is our 21st-century Georgia O’Keefe. Her paintings are fresh and larger than Life! Susan is a delight to work with and I appreciate her out-of-the-box thinking.

How much do I love Susan’s work? Let me count the ways. It’s a rare thing to find an artist with such a perfect sense of design, space and composition. Her work takes minimalism seriously, transforming the intricate patterns of nature and distilling them into stunning simplicity. To see her work is to find solace, a balm for a frenzied life.

I am a British artist currently living in downtown Montréal in Griffintown. We came to Canada 28 years ago with 2 small children who are both now more Canadian than British!

I love to paint acrylic contemporary minimalist florals. Using photos I take throughout the year so I always have plenty to use throughout our winters!!

What are you currently working on?

I recently painted lots of spring inspired florals for the Art By The Water exhibition. It was a fundraiser for the Simon Chang Foundation for Special Needs Children.
