Death Proof, an all-female rock trio, shapes a powerful and ever-evolving sound. After a first album release in 2015, it was Haunted (2016) that gained attention with a darker and deeper sound, ranking among the “Top Albums of 2016” according to Montréal Rampage. In 2022, Parallel World marked a new step: Heavy riffs, tribal textures, and a shift towards Stoner Rock, supported by a music video with striking imagery. They have shared the stage through several editions with the Tribute to Nirvana band April Hate at Club Soda (2017, 2019 and 2024) as well as acting as opener for Three Days Grace during the Osisko Music Festival in 2023. On stage, Death Proof stands out with captivating and energetic performances. The trio strikes the hearts of the crowd by delivering heavy, catchy melodies and an unforgettably electric show. They are currently in studio for their fourth album.

EP or LP?
We have only ever put out full-length LP’s, but we definitely see the value in a shorter, more condensed and concept-focused EP. We have talked about how cool it would be to put out a three-song EP, each song representing a member of the band – it would be different than anything we’d done in the past, more conceptual. Maybe that will still be something we do in the future!
Early bird or night owl?
I think we have matured into early birds. We used to stay up all night jamming, recording music, partying until the sun rose… but with time, we have grown into appreciating a good night’s sleep. The three of us do our best to prioritize our health. We eat clean, work out regularly, try to limit drinking, no smoking, etc. Steph does a lot of breathwork and yoga, Masha does a lot of meditation, and Kat likes to work out at the gym.
Road or studio?
In studio, we dive deep into that creative space where we can express ourselves and fine-tune our craft, but the road inspires us endlessly. We all love to travel, go on roadtrips, set up camp… Be free! So we are grateful to be able to experience both.
Any shows or albums coming up?
We are currently in studio for our fourth album, which we believe will be our best one so far. We’ve worked hard over the last few years to really fine-tune our sound and get to a place where we are proud of the writing. We are also super excited to play at the 3F Festival hosted by Ash Lex and Derek Wiltshire this summer! They are big supporters of the Montréal music scene and have created this super cool opportunity for women in music to come together and build a community of like-minded creatives.

Lov is a great spot. Good clean vegan options and chill vibe.

Pretty much anywhere in the Old Port, there’s a very nostalgic vibe there. The quiet, the cobblestones… It’s a special part of Montréal that you never get tired of.
What is your favourite park in your city and why?
Mont Royal is the heart of the city. We’ve spent countless Sundays on that mountain over the years, since our childhood. With friends, family, boyfriends lol! It holds a special place in all of our hearts.
What is your favourite music venue in your city?
We love Club Soda! It’s the perfect mix of intimate but epic at the same time. We always have a blast playing there. The staff is great, and it feels like home. You can see huge names playing there, but also local indie talent, which is so important. We love that Club Soda gives opportunities to local bands to be seen and heard by larger crowds.
What is your favourite music store in your city?
Aux 33 Tours is a classic. Any music lover must stop by! They always have a great selection of vinyl and gear. You could spend hours there discovering new music.
