Heather has performed for audiences of all sizes across North America, where her toe-tapping music, energetic personality, and highly interactive shows engage the whole family. Her debut album, “Songs for Growing” (2022), has been described as “delightful songs and potent melodies” blending folk, R&B, and jazz. Her sophomore album “Together” (June 2025), produced by Grammy-award Kindie producer Dean Jones, is an upbeat mix of funk, pop, and jazz tunes on the themes of inclusion, acceptance, and belonging.

Favourite musician growing up:
Jann Arden and U2. It’s sooooo hard to name just two, let alone one, lol!
Favourite musician now:
Don’t really have a fav, but if I had to choose just one artist to listen to forever, I guess it would be Joni Mitchell or Brahms?
Guilty pleasure song:
I don’t really have one. I listen to music from all ages and genres, and all music has worth, so NEVER feel guilty for listening
Live show ritual:
Pretty simple…coffee to wake up, a good vocal warm up, a good 10 minutes of stretching to calm my nerves and get ready to jump and dance with the children
Favourite local musician:
I will always love Gilles Vigneault, especially his children’s songs. Les Cowboys Fringants are pretty awesome!
EP or LP?
LP always, even though some people may not think it matters in the age of streaming. For me, it’s a chance to take people on an extended journey through a theme, moods, and set of genres to provide a transformative experience
Early bird or night owl?
I was a night owl until my late 20s, and now I’m an early bird. Well, since I have multiple sclerosis, I simply need a lot of sleep, so I get to sleep early and wake up early-ish. Good sleep is one of the most important factors to living well with multiple sclerosis
Road or studio?
Studio, most definitely. There’s so much creativity in working with others who think alike and are able to act on whimsical ideas and collaboratively turn them, like magic, into tunes that were never even thought of a few days earlier. While I’ll have snippets of songs that it takes two years to develop into something I’m satisfied with enough to record, the whimsy is important in children’s music: some of the best ideas are spur-of-the-moment!
There are at least 2 tunes on each of my albums that were conceived of this way! Writing tunes and lyrics on the spot is a critical skill for a children’s entertainer and teacher, too.
Any shows or albums coming up?
I’m SUPER excited about this new album, Together, as well as performing at the Arta Vista Festival as part of the Canada Games, and at the Beaconsfield Library on October 5
