Victorella is an Anglo-Franco alternative rock project masterminded by musician-songwriter Arianne Larocque. Inspired by all kinds of alternative artists throughout the history of music, Victorella brings a unique and special sound to this genre. Using a DIY approach to the recordings of her songs, the young musician shares with us personal and raw tunes that are nothing short of beautiful. I always listen to ”Heroes” by Bowie in the greenroom before doing a live show. It gives me the courage and strength I need.
Favourite local musician:
Ask Ophelia! We met in 2024 and have been friends since. They’re very cool and talented people from the local music scene.
EP or LP?
LPs all the way! EPs are cool to get to know an artist, but you truly get into someone’s universe with an LP. EPs are way cheaper to produce, though, so whatever works best when you’re starting out!
Early bird or night owl?
Night owl. Love making my kimchi ramen at 2 am.
Road or studio?
I haven’t really been on the road yet, so I will say studio! I have recorded my album mostly on my own, so I spent a lot of time working in the studio alone. I love the state of mind I’m in where my thoughts are solely focused on what I’m creating at the moment.

What is your favourite local restaurant?
Sushi St-Denis
What is your favourite street in your city and why?
Based on all my other answers, I gotta say St-Denis street because it’s where I can find my favourite restaurant, bar and record store.
What is your favourite park in your city and why?
La Fontaine Park, especially at night! It has an ethereal, almost surreal atmosphere when lit only by streetlights. I have fond memories of spending time there with my friends, sitting on the benches, talking. Love this park.
What is your favourite music venue in your city?
Le quai des brumes on St-Denis street! Whenever I want to go to a bar with my friends, we always end up at the Quai because we know there’s always a cool band playing there. The booker, Julia, is also super nice. The venue is neither trashy nor too classy, it’s just a perfect middle ground.
What is your favourite music store in your city?
The Beatnick on St-Denis street! They have a great selection of alternative records, and I always find something even if I don’t want to.
