As an artist, Aaron Collier deftly weaves the fabrics of contrasting worlds into a singularly rich and diverse practice. His materials are universal human stories that resonate with audiences of all backgrounds, brocaded with the precious threads of his own profoundly personal narrative. Behind the curtain, we find Aaron the inventor, the alchemist – refining, transmitting and distilling clear and intimate modes of artistic expression with the compelling possibilities of cutting-edge technology. For all his engineering wizardry, Aaron’s innovative performances serve the pure intention of connecting with audiences and inviting them into his own pattern of experiencing the world.

Which ’hood are you in?
HEIST has been invited to WinterWorks from Nova Scotia. We’re staying in Ville-Marie while we are here, and we love checking out music and coffee in Mile-End.
What do you do?
I am an artistic and technical director with HEIST, and I am the lead creator and performer of this autobiographical show, Frequencies. I consider myself a multi-disciplinary artist and often work in overlapping areas of music composition and performance, sound and video design, drag, playwriting and performing.
What are you currently working on?
I’m at the beginning stages of a new live music experience centred around an acoustic piano with synths.
