Jack is a sweet, quiet, and loyal dog. He is fully house-trained, responds to basic commands and is very capable of learning more. He was recently trained not to pull on his walks but has some work to do still when other dogs walk past.
He currently lives with two cats and is very friendly with them. He’s never shown any aggression towards other animals, such as cats or squirrels on our walks. He does not bark at outside noises when he is in the house or run for the door when people come in, but he does announce them.
He adapts very well to new environments and likes to please his family. He can be left alone for the duration of a workday and is not destructive or vocal (confirmed by neighbours) when left on his own.
He is a strong and gentle dog that needs to find a peaceful and loving home. He displays herding behaviours when a situation seems to him to be uncontrolled (kids at play, groups of people in a space, exaggerated movements), in those moments he will try to control the situation by nipping at his feet. This is not aggressive behaviour but should be considered when in the presence of younger children. He is fine being moved to another room in those cases.
Jack seems to have a sensitive skin condition, the SPCA is currently working with him to find the appropriate food to appease this.
