Rusty the dog is looking for a new home in the Montréal area

Rusty is a bundle of energy who loves running in the backyard and chasing squirrels along the fence. He walks pretty well on a leash, though he can react to other dogs, squirrels, or rabbits, so this is something that requires a bit of training.

He’s all about comfort, especially lounging on a bed—though, given his size, that doesn’t happen often! He has his own bed when someone is home to supervise him, but when left alone, he’s crated.

Rusty is an active chewer. He can enjoy bones and treats, but toys should only be given under supervision since he tends to chew them up.

He gets along well with cats once he’s learned to respect their space, and he’s comfortable with foster puppies. With young children, interactions should be gradual, as he can get excited and may jump.

He’s fine with self-serve baths at Mondou and the dryer, which doesn’t bother him as much now. Nail trimming is a breeze for him, and he’s house-trained.

Rusty knows the basics: sit, stay, down, come, place, off, and heel (though he still needs some reinforcement). He also responds to a recall word.

He’s never been off-leash or to a dog park.

There’s still some work to be done on resource guarding, counter surfing, and stealing food.

Basically, he’s a puppy in a big dog’s body!
