Five Minutes With: Indie Artist APACALDA

Since 2019, APACALDA has been crafting emotionally charged alt/indie pop that lives somewhere between raw confession and cinematic escape. Based in Montréal, the artist’s sound blends vulnerability with atmosphere, where haunting vocals, rich textures, and bold melodies meet.

Their debut EP, There’s A Shadow In My Room and It Isn’t Mine, dropped June 13, 2025, via behave. It’s a collection built for late nights, shadowy corners, and quiet epiphanies, led by the moody single and video “Darkness.”

Influenced by the grunge grit of Nirvana, the showmanship of Prince, and the spacious psychedelia of Pink Floyd (with a touch of Spice Girls attitude), APACALDA now finds inspiration in the likes of Angel Olsen, Artemas, Lola Young, and Fred Again.. Expect introspective lyrics, slow burns, and sonic moments that hit you right in the chest.

On stage, APACALDA is equally ritualistic and real—grounding before every show with solitude, good food, and a firm pep talk in the mirror: “Girl, you got this.”

Their music is available across all major platforms, and for a deeper dive into the mind behind the music, follow APACALDA’s more personal musings on Substack and unfiltered moments on TikTok.
