Solitude and connection: a reality and desire for Montréal-based pop artist Flara K. Having spent half a decade in a van as a touring artist before transitioning to a solo artist and professional songwriter, she spent the last three years in studios in Montréal, London, Paris and LA writing what is to become her debut album. The time is now to share the sound of Flara K, and the woman she’s become in the process.
Having previously released a series of short EPs and several one-off singles, primarily as a featured artist, this new body of work encapsulates a world of personal stories, both heavy and light, intertwined with tongue-in-cheek lyrics that showcase what womanhood has felt like for Flara K.
With the release of Flara K’s debut album, Seasons, she’s reminded of the connection she longed for on the floor of her childhood bedroom and the sense of belonging her favourite songs provided. She smiles at the thought. “I hope this music finds connection,” she says. “I hope it connects with listeners, helps people feel good, and hopefully helps connect me with whatever comes next. There’s so much more growth yet to happen. I’m ready for it.”
