Five Minutes With: Electronic Musician Jesse Mac Cormack

Jesse Mac Cormack delivers a versatile sound that strikes a perfect balance between the softness of his voice, the fervour of his lyrics, and electronic flourishes, alternately subtle and ready to ignite the dance floor.

In 2022, Jesse Mac Cormack took an ambitious turn with his second album, “SOLO,” which distinguishes itself from his previous works through a more electronic, refined, and maximalist production. The EP “SOLO_2” revisits some of his songs, amplifying this new direction even further. Throughout 2023, the artist introduced some refreshing and dance-worthy singles, including “Settle & Fly” with Gabrielle Shonk, “All Mine,” and “Come Home.”

Versatile in his talents, Jesse Mac Cormack has produced all volumes of the acclaimed “Altogether Unaccompanied” by Helena Deland, as well as albums for Rosie Valland, Philippe Brach, Sara-Danielle, Lonny, and many others. His approach has been shaped by remarkable encounters and collaborations with artists such as Patrick Watson, The Barr Brothers, Cat Power, Half Moon Run, and CRi.

What is your favourite street in your city and why?

My favourite street in the city has to be Clark Street in the Mile End. It holds a special charm, particularly during the serene beauty of summer. The tranquillity of the surroundings, coupled with the mix of old houses and vibrant young families, creates a unique atmosphere.

What is your favourite park in your city and why?

I will say the Van Horne skate park is where I hang the most as I am such a skateboard fan. I just love to hang and watch people do tricks and quietly comment and judge their skills.

My favourite music venue in the city has to be Café Cleopatre! Few places have such a unique character, decor, and ambience. It’s like stepping into a movie scene.

I will say MOOG because there are so many synths and I just want to touch them all.
