Hailing from Montreal, Quebec, Vantablack Warship is a band that mixes thrash metal, hardcore and punk. Their music is rhythmic, contagious, aggressive, violent, caustic… All with a serious dose of groove! The name of the group aims to pay tribute to Black Sabbath. Original suggestion was Vantablack Worship and was changed to Warship as the cult seemed pretentious. They chose Vantablack because it is a material composed of carbon nanotubes that hardly reflects light. It is considered the blackest black in existence. Their vision, to be darker than the darkest of them all, Black Sabbath.
This war machine is made up of members who were in prominent groups of the Quebec underground scene over the past 30 years. Pat Gordon (Ghoulunatics, Les Ékorchés, Buffalo Theory Mtl, Leprocy, Crypt Keepers), Yannick Pilon (Arseniq33, Buffalo Theory ), Thierry Hivon (Brutal Chérie, Sexhead, Sarkasm), Pierre Pitre (Arseniq33, Foreshadow) and Kurtis Clifford (Foreshadow).
With a self-titled E.P. and the album Abrasive Pulmonic Speak to their credit, they have shared the stage with several bands over the past few years, including Annihilator, Venom Inc., EyeHateGod, Voivod, Anonymus, Anvil, Prong, Life of Agony, BARF…
Proud of its partnership with the BAM label, Vantablack Warship presents its new album Last of the Hardmouthed Poets recorded and mixed by Patrick Knup and mastered by Alberto De Icaza. The title of the album speaks to the blacklisted authors of yesteryear and reminds us not to take freedom of expression and freedom of thought for granted. Last of the Hardmouthed Poets also refers to the end of eras, dying breeds, lost generations, and cherishing those who remain. This album will hit you full force! A pure adrenaline rush that destroys everything in it’s path! Short, intense and punchy songs with well-felt and thoughtful lyrics… You haven’t seen them live yet? It’s a definite must!
