Les Mimipots

What is your business called and what does it do?

My business is called Mimipots, the meaning came from my nickname Mimi and pots for concrete planters. It started when I was looking for beautiful pots for my plants and I didn’t find what I was looking for.

What made you want to do this work?

I always love to create things from scratch. I was looking for a passion, something that was missing in my life, and that was not a guy. 😅😂🙄 So, I try different things, like making fondant cake, painting, sports… and buying plants. When I came back home with my new plants, I didn’t like the look of the old classic plastic pots, green or brown. I searched on Instagram and I found a lot of beautiful pots, made of concrete or cement. I immediately wanted to try to make some myself. I bought a bag of concrete mix and I fabricated my own mould with the help of Pinterest. The final look was NOT what I was expecting. That’s when I understood that I needed training. I love making those and I wanted to do more and make them beautiful too.

What problem did you want to solve with the business?

I wanted to embellish my daily life by having beautiful plants with beautiful pots. Create accessible art.

Who are your clientele/demographics?

Women in their forties who appreciate craftsmanship and beautiful decorations.

At the moment I mainly sell in Quebec, but I already have some sales in Ontario and the United States.

How does your business make money? How does it work?

I sell online and through points of sale that buy the products and resell them. I also have more and more corporate orders. I made my website with Shopify for my online store. The points of sale that work the most are the more high-end boutiques. Corporate orders are orders with the company logo — for example Du Proprio. I like to participate in pop-up shops too. It’s beautiful moments that allow me to meet my clients in real life.

Where in the city can we find your profession?

The workshop is in Mascouche, but you can find the different points of sale here.

Les Mimipots

What is the best question a prospective customer could ask a member of your profession when comparing services? Give the answer as well.

Why choose a concrete pot instead of a terracotta or ceramic pot? Our concrete is porous but not as porous as terracotta. It will therefore remain beautiful and the water will not pass through. Our quality of concrete makes it durable and does not crack. Quality of service and 100% made and designer products here. It’s made with concrete love, in Mascouche.

What is the best part about what you do? What is the worst part?

Receive pictures of clients with my decoration in their homes!!! That makes me so happy to see that.

The worst could be that it’s dangerous to make concrete sometimes, you should always put a mask on and protective glasses and gloves while manipulating the concrete mix. But I think the worst thing is to be limited with the mould form I can do. Because I make my own mould and sometimes it’s complicated.

What is your favourite joke about your own profession?

All the wordplay with the word concrete in french ‘’ y’a rien de coulé dans le béton’’

Where can we follow you?

On Instagram, Youtube, Facebook, Pinterest and Tik Tok. Also, you can subscribe to receive our newsletter on our website.

PAY IT FORWARD: What is another local business that you love?
