Homegrown Business: Nayma Uddin of Aureate

Aureate is a Montreal home decor, beauty and lifestyle business that wants everyone to feel luxurious with their products. We spoke with Nayma Uddin to find out more about them.

What is your business called and what does it do?

Our business is called Aureate. It means “denoting, made of, or having the colour of gold”. We want everyone to feel luxurious with our products.

What made you want to do this work?

We really love home decor, beauty and lifestyle. Because we already invest in it so much, we thought we could pay it forward. Our main goal was to build a community, make friends and learn something new as we create our brand and build our business.

What problem did you want to solve with the business?

Not necessarily a problem to solve but to build confidence in people around us, for them to have a brand they trust and products that look and feel good.

Who are your clientele/demographics?

Our demographics are mainly people in the greater Montreal and Toronto area. We are hoping to launch a jewelry line with international shipping!

How does your business make money? How does it work?

We sell candles and home goods on Etsy, we will launch a website so the transactions become easier for our friends/clients.

Where in the city can we find your profession?

We are located in Montreal, Quebec!

What is the best question a prospective customer could ask a member of your profession when comparing services? Give the answer as well.

The best question a potential customer might ask is “why soy wax and not any other?” Our candles are made from 100% natural soy wax because soy wax is better for the environment and better for you. It doesn’t have any toxic chemicals which makes it 100% safe to burn.

What is the best part about what you do? What is the worst part?

The best part about our business is being able to work with the family, which is also the worst part sometimes! We may have disagreements on some business ideas but we are always able to work something out amongst sisters.

Where can we follow you?

You can follow us on Instagram, Facebook or our website!

PAY IT FORWARD: What is another local business that you love?

A local business that we absolutely love is Cafe Ferlucci. They have delicious drinks, sweet and savoury treats as well as one of the nicest staff to encounter.
