Five Minutes With: Montréal Indie Folk Musician Metò

Imagine music that captures the bittersweet beauty of life’s most profound moments. Born from a time of intense emotion, Metò weaves soaring melodies with intimate acoustic soundscapes, reflecting the interweaving sentiments of love, loss, and hope that emerged from accompanying his ailing father through his final journey. This poignant experience provided the foundation for his debut EP, “Alstroemeria” a contemplative musical voyage for listeners to explore.

Now, Metò is set to release his eagerly awaited debut album, “Wed to the Moment”, a sonic exploration that embraces the raw and unexpected. Born from spontaneous improvisations captured on a portable Tascam recorder, the album creates a captivating dialogue between lo-fi authenticity and studio refinement. “Wed to the Moment” invites you to experience the magic of music in its purest form – unfiltered, unpredictable, and utterly captivating. Follow Metò to stay updated on its imminent release.

Rapid Fire Local Questions:

What is your favourite local restaurant?

Sammy Dumpling, never underestimate good dumplings

What is your favourite street in your city and why?

St. Germain Street, we lived in an old apartment in Hochelaga. I have a lot of memories from a very young age, as early as 3 years old, that come from that place. Every week, I would eagerly wait for the garbage truck to come down the alley as if it were a show. My mother even had to take me out of my bath because I didn’t want to miss it.

What is your favourite park in your city and why?

Parc Maison-Neuve, best place to just sit down and relax.

What is your favourite music venue in your city?

Cedric’s home studio (Loumi), my best friend and producer, on Letourneux Avenue, where his magic operates in complete simplicity.

What is your favourite music store in your city?

The old Archambault on Berri Street. I used to go there with my mom to buy CDs when I was young. She would question my taste in music (Lil Bow Wow and Crazy Frog), but she never stopped me from listening to what I wanted.
