Declan EC is a multi-instrumentalist teenager from Montréal, Québec. His reputation as a skilled songwriter and charismatic performer is quickly putting him on the map as one of Montreal’s newest artists to watch out for. His influences include The Hives, Gorillaz, Le Tigre, Elvis Costello, and St. Vincent. When asked, Declan EC describes his music as “post-punk / pub-rock for a new generation”.
His first record, “15,” was aptly titled because it was entirely composed at the youthful age of fifteen. Released at the end of ‘24, it features eleven original works and was produced by his critically acclaimed father, Paul Cargnello.
Despite his young age, he’s already become a mainstay at his high school talent shows. Declan EC has also been featured on CJLO Concordia University Radio, listed as one of the five artists to look out for in ‘25 by the CBC, and he’s performed at some Montreal stages in the underground festival scene, most notably Pouzzafest and the Montreal Fringe Festival in ‘25.
He’s collaborated multiple times with hip-hop luminary Remy Picasso, proving that whether making punk-rock anthems or hip-hop beats, Declan is at ease. His second full-length album is called “Parallel Punk,” dropped in April 2026.

Which ’hood are you in?
I’m in the South-West of Montreal, living in NDG.
What do you do?
I’m a singer/songwriter and beatmaker who plays several instruments. I’ve released a studio album already when I was fifteen, my follow-up LP ‘Parallel Punk’ came out in April 2026. I was recently accepted into CEGEP, so I’ve been pretty busy lately.
What are you currently working on?
I just released two music videos, filmed and directed by a fellow teenager named Nicolas Olmos. It’s amazing how much talent and creative drive there is within many teenagers who have not been discovered yet. One video is for my first single off the new album, called ‘Faux’, and the other is for my second and lead single, ‘Goddamned’. Both can be found on YouTube and Bandcamp, with cool remixes available as well. This music is really my new direction, and I consider it a massive upgrade in musical quality for me. Everyone should go check out ‘Parallel Punk’, I promise it’s actually good.
